Programs
Inmates in the Cass County Jail are offered programs and services to help them during their time spent.
Religious Services
The Cass County Jail supports the right to worship for those of all faiths. New Foundation Community Jail Ministries Chaplains conduct weekly group services in addition to counseling and religious guidance. The Chaplains also provide a mobile library service to the housing units each week.
Substance Use Treatment
Woodlands Behavioral Health Center conducts weekly recovery classes for individuals struggling with substance use disorder.
The Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT) program is a collaborative effort between the Sheriff’s Office, Woodlands Behavioral Health, Cass County Treatment Courts, Carol’s Hope Engagement Center and the Cass Family Clinic. Based on their unique needs and circumstances, participants may receive a combination of medications, peer-support, group counseling and referral to post-release community services. MAT medications like Suboxone, for example, affect specific opioid receptors in the brain. As Captain Jon Shoup explains, “The medication does not create a high. It simply coats and binds to those receptors and allows [people struggling with opiate addiction] to focus on recovery and a plan, so once they’re out they can continue living a sober life”.
Education
In cooperation with Cass County Intermediate School District, detainees are able to obtain either a GED or high school diploma by attending weekly classes and tutoring sessions. We are proud to announce that, through the hard work of the ISD staff, our facility is an approved GED testing facility.
