The Cass County Board of Commissioners and Sheriff Clint Roach celebrated more than 35 years of service for two employees of the Cass County Sheriff's Office at Thursday's Board of Commissioners meeting.
On September 2, 1991, Commissioner Mike Grice, who was then serving as Animal Control Director, hired Ron Butts as a part-time Shelter Assistant. Ron advanced to the position of Animal Control Law Enforcement Specialist, and was eventually appointed to Animal Control Director on January 1, 2017, when Grice retired.
On July 11, 1990, Don Giddings began his career with the Cass County Sheriff's Office, working in the Cass County Jail.
Throughout their careers, both Butts and Giddings have contributed to the safety and security of Cass County — Butts to animal welfare, and Giddings to the county's corrections community.
Both individuals were awarded Cass County Challenge Coins by Commissioner Jim Lawrence, and were recognized by resolution in front of a room full of their peers.
