Public safety radio communications tower completed in Porter Township

Sheriff Richard Behnke recently announced that a project to create a new public safety radio communication tower has been completed.
On Nov. 1, Sheriff Behnke met with members of Cass County Sheriff’s Office, St. Joseph County Central Dispatch, Michigan Public Safety Communication System, Motorola, Five Star Life, Cass County government members, police chiefs, and Cass County 911 Authority Board members to celebrate the completion of a 320-foot public safety radio communications tower. The project was completed and activated on Oct. 3 — on time and within the planned budget.
This project was made possible by partnering with St. Joseph County Central Dispatch and Five Star Life. The new tower site is located in the Southeast part of Cass County and provides radio coverage in the south/southeast part of Cass County and southwest corner of St. Joseph County. The radio coverage provided by this tower fills gaps where responders were previously unable to have radio communications.
