History
Cass County’s history is also unique. The Kentucky Raid took place in August of 1847. It is a story of how white and black citizens stood up to armed invaders from Kentucky intent on kidnapping former slaves.
The local Court prevented the travesty from occurring. The Michigan Bar Association has commemorated this legal milestone with a plaque placed near the 1899 Courthouse.
