Michigan Boating Laws and Responsibilities

Purpose

Cass County Sheriff's Office operates a Marine Patrol Division. The Marine Patrol uses a combination of boats and jet skis to patrol the lakes of Cass County. Marine Patrol Deputies enforce all marine laws.

Classes

The Marine Division also offers boater safety classes.

Reminder: Anyone born after July 1st 1996 is required to have a boater safety card to operate any vessel

Cass County Sheriff's Office 2019 Boating Safety Classes

Students may pre-register by calling the Cass County Sheriff's Office at 269-445-1240. Please have the student's legal name, address, phone number, and date of birth at the time of registration.

All classes start at 8 a.m. and should be done by 1 p.m. Students are required to bring a Number 2 pencil. Adults are recommended to take the class.
